Enjoy a taste of California history with a short trip to the grounds of Japanese Village and Deer Park on Knott Avenue. This historic amusement park is no longer a hub of activity but it’s still fun to visit. Located a short drive from Disneyland Resort, you can head here to see the former site of the Japanese Village, deer park, theater, and old amusement rides.
The park first opened in 1967 and closed in 1975 when it was sold with the Movieland Wax Museum. Popular attractions included the Classic Tea House, the Dove Pavilion, the Japanese Garden, and a dolphin feeding area. The park also once served as America’s only authentic Japanese Deer Park where families could spend the day in a tranquil setting to see deer and other animals.
The area has now been developed into a modern business park and is located near several Buena Park attractions, including Knott’s Berry Farm and the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. Spend an afternoon touring the area and enjoying some sun at George Bellis Park nearby. All sites around this area are accessible via Interstate 5 and Disneyland is less than a 15-minute drive away from the former park grounds.
